The Constraints-Led Fencing Event
A First of Its Kind Annual Gathering
I’m incredibly excited to announce that I am partnering with Sean Franklin (the mind behind HEMA Scorecard, Sword STEM, etc.) to put on the first ever Constraints Led Fencing Event happening April 25th in Ft. Wayne, IN. This one day event will provide a deep dive into how we as fencers can employ the constraints-led approach (CLA). For those unfamiliar, CLA is what sport science shows us is the most effective way to train motor skills. So whether you’re a coach looking for a better way to provide for their students, or a competitor looking to take their game to the next level, this is the event for you. Whether you are coming at this from an SCA or a HEMA background, swords are still swords and brains are still brains.
The event is primarily aimed at both longsword and rapier fencers, but the concepts will still apply regardless of your favorite weapon set. Cost for the whole day is only $75, which will include lunch. The day will primarily be hands on, so if sitting still as people lecture at you about abstract theory isn’t your thing then this is the event for you. That said, every exercise is fully opt-in, so if your body won’t let you swing a sword for hours nonstop, there will still be a lot you’ll be able to pick up.
See you all soon!
